Manchester City and Xylem inc put their money where their hearts are

On Sunday 31 October 2021 Social Investment Agency - GrowZA, Water solutions company Xylem inc, Cape Town beach cleanup and sports development NGO Goals for Change partnered to kick off a dynamic partnership between Xylem inc and Manchester City Football club on Blouberg beach in Cape Town, South Africa

A highlight of the day was the presence of the Manchester City Supporters Club South Africa who pledged support for the African rollout of the programme.

The day kicked off with a beach cleanup orientation for the young footballers explaining the importance of clean coastlines and the impact of plastics pollution on sea life

The beach clean-up was also an opportunity to gather new data about the state of our coasts and the types of trash that pollutes them. By identifying the most harmful debris items, environmental groups find ways to stop them from entering the ocean or being littered again on beaches.

The Manchester City x Xylem inc partnership was appropriately marked by a festival of beach soccer and a surprise handover of kit to the deserving footballers from Goals for Change.

Goals for Change is a dynamic NGO offering sports programming coupled with lifeskills orientation and counselling for young people in the Strandfontein and Mitchells Plein region of Cape Town.

Prolific media personality, Guy Mcdonald lent his voice to the initiative and led the production of the media collateral to support the campaign.

GrowZA is excited to drive this programme across the continent with Xylem and Manchester City driving direct benefit to communities from Cape Town to Cairo.
